Mission Statement
Brooklyn Community Housing & Services (BCHS) is committed to ending homelessness in Brooklyn. We provide safe, clean supportive housing each year for more than 1,200 women, children and men who had been homeless, and help them learn how to live productively and independently, with dignity, and with hope.
About This Cause
Programs and Services: - The Scattered-Site Apartment Program places 135 formerly homeless adults, who are living with serious and persistent mental illnesses, into private transitional and long-term apartments throughout Brooklyn. - Brooklyn Gardens, a three-building apartment complex, owned and managed by BCHS, provides short-term, transitional, and permanent housing for 180 formerly homeless New Yorkers. - The Brooklyn Housing Assistance Center (BHAC) is designed to prevent homelessness for people who are presently living in stable housing but are facing a crisis that is putting their housing at risk.
