Mission Statement
Single Mothers by Choice (SMC) was founded in 1981 by Jane Mattes, LCSW, a single mother by choice and psychotherapist. We provide both in-person and online support and information to single women who are thinking about, attempting to become, or are already single mothers by choice. Many thousands of women have joined us over the 35 years of our existence.
About This Cause
Single Mothers by Choice is a non-profit organization which provides both online and in-person support and information to single women all over the US and abroad. We define a Single Mother by Choice as a woman who has decided to become a mother knowing that, at least at the outset, she will be parenting alone.
