About This Cause

Queens Public Library serves one of the most diverse counties in the United States, where 46.9% of its 2.3 million residents are foreign-born and 55.2% of households speak a language other than English. Queens Public Library provides a broad array of programs and services through its 66 locations that include six Adult Learning Centers, a Teen Library, and a Tech Center. Queens Public Library offers a range of literacy, educational, vocational, employment, health, cultural, and social service programs, many of which are offered in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, Mandarin and Bengali All Queens residents live within a mile of a Library; the Library also has mobile locations to work with hard to reach populations, including people incarcerated at Riker’s Island and residents of homeless shelters. Through virtual programming and online resources, Queens Public Library can also reach individuals who are unable to visit locations in-person, such as homebound elderly and people with mobility problems.
