Mission Statement
Homework Helpers was founded in 2003 to create computer labs in community centers located in under-served neighborhoods. These are fully equipped quiet spaces where students can access the internet from state-of-the-art computers and receive homework help and computer instruction. The computer labs are also used for ESL and GED classes, SAT/ACT preparation, resume writing, and job searching.
About This Cause
Our first site opened in 2004 and today there are 22 Homework Helpers sites located throughout NYC and in Tiptonville, Tennessee. Our partners include the NYC Parks & Recreation Department; the NYC Housing Authority; Settlement Association members; Urban Upbound; and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development. We have no overhead which enables 100% of funds raised to assist in the creation of new computer labs for under-served neighborhoods.
