Mission Statement
UNION Impact Center will support the transformation of the Back of the Yards neighborhood towards the organization’s vision of the future by providing opportunities for youth and their families to learn, connect with each other, be supported by others, share their skills and talents, and further develop their own strength. By strengthening youth and families, UNION Impact Center will strengthen community.
About This Cause
UNION Impact Center, its volunteers, and local partners create accessible year round after-school programming in the southwest side of Chicago. The Youth Soccer Program provides a safe space for participants to establish healthy exercise habits and challenges them to work collaboratively. The Family Health & Wellness Program creates intergenerational opportunities for participants to connect to nature via 1) growing fresh organic produce at a local urban farm and 2) attending free organized excursions to local forest preserves and other green spaces in the Chicagoland area. Since 2007, the organization has engaged hundreds of children and families in building community cohesion through sports and wellness.
