Mission Statement
The Anaheim Ducks Foundation serves as the team’s main charitable beneficiary. Introduced at the opening of the 2008-09 season, the mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is to facilitate and support programs that produce positive change for children and families throughout Southern California by providing educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey and addressing the health and wellness needs of our community. Ducks S.C.O.R.E., the team's school and education program, is the Foundation's signature program for achieving its mission.
About This Cause
The Anaheim Ducks Foundation raises money at various fundraisers such as the Anaheim Ducks Golf Classic and Dux in Tux, along with a variety of in-game fundraisers. Through the Foundation, the Anaheim Ducks look to support exemplary Southern California nonprofit organizations and to help make a positive impact in the local community. Anaheim Ducks Foundation has contributed to many nonprofit organizations such as Orangewood Children’s Foundation, CHOC Children’s, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Orange County Ronald McDonald House, Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. Program, Top Flight, Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play powered by Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry and many more. The primary beneficiary of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. (Scholastic Curriculum of Recreation & Education). The program is a free standards-based curriculum, with resources and incentives for teachers and students. Through the establishment of two major initiatives, In-Class Education and Physical Education, Ducks S.C.O.R.E. uses hockey to teach educational themes, reinforce the importance of positive character building and reward youth for their dedication for pursuing academic excellence. The award-winning Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. program was developed in 2005 for the students of Southern California to address healthy living habits, academic excellence, and to promote the importance of balancing these two practices into their daily routine. Over 40,000 students participate in this program annually from San Diego, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties and over 260,000 students have taken part in this program since its inception. Based on its contributions to literacy and education, the Reading Is the Goal program has received awards from the International Reading Association's (IRA) California and Orange County chapters in 2009 and 2008, respectively. Also, for it's work in STEM education, SCORE was awarded the Faraday Communicator Award in 2010 from the National Science Teacher's Association.
