Mission Statement

The New York Society Library is dedicated to making available to general interest readers and scholars, a wide variety of books and other resources in a comfortable, attractive setting that gives its users a quiet place for reading and study not easily found in a large, crowded city. The Library seeks to provide a high level of personal attention and expertise to those it serves. It also has a number of programs such as discussion groups, exhibitions, and outreach programs designed to help the larger New York City community. The goal of the Library is to serve its members and others as it has for generations, and to add new services in such areas as technology, to help meet the needs of an increasingly complex world.
