Mission Statement
Turtle Bay Music School is a nonprofit community music school in east midtown Manhattan. Founded in 1925, our mission is to spread the transformative power of music by providing the highest quality music education and experiences to all in the community who seek them. We believe that everyone is welcome to share our passion for music, regardless of age, ability, race, sexual identity, or economic status; that music education should be made available to all school-aged children; and that community service is integral to our work.
About This Cause
TBMS serves over 5,000 New Yorkers annually through in-house lessons and community outreach programs that include music residencies in NYC public schools, full scholarship programs for low-income students and families, free professional concerts and lectures led by our faculty, and free music programs for seniors. TBMS proudly fulfills 100% of financial aid requests for those with demonstrated need. Our programs aim to make high-quality music education accessible by eliminating financial barriers for those who are economically disadvantaged.
