About This Cause

South Brevard ACT-SO PROVIDES MULTIPLE OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVOLVEMENT. COMMUNITY MEMBERS PARTICIPATE AS CHAIRPERSONS, MENTORS and TEACHERS. The NAACP's Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American elementary, middle and high school students. ACT-SO includes 33 categories of competition in the sciences, humanities, business, and performing and visual arts. Youth of today must be positioned to assume leadership on every level of society; therefore the NAACP ACT-SO places significant importance on leadership development. The NAACP ACT-SO provides enrichment In the sciences in STEM related activities. Students in elementary, middle and high schools are taught drone technology, robotics and coding from marginalized communities. Also, students are mentored with their science projects. All students demonstrate their projects to their communities. The South Brevard ACT-SO has been in operation for 22 years in Melbourne Florida
