Mission Statement

The American Council on Science and Health is a national, non-profit, 501 (c)(3) consumer education and advocacy organization founded in 1978 with the mission of ensuring that peer-reviewed, evidenced-based science reaches the public, and the decision-makers who determine public policy.

About This Cause

The American Council on Science and Health (ACSH) was formed by a group of scientists who wished to counter activists and organizations that exaggerate health risks, misrepresent science, despise America’s free enterprise system, and that seek to frighten an already risk-adverse public. We believe science – not hype – should be the basis of our decision-making in order to foster scientifically sound and sensible public health policy. into supporting an ideologically-driven agenda of burdensome regulations that yield no proven public benefit. We support individual liberties, minimal government influences on business, and the belief that Americans’ continued physical and economic well being depends on scientific, medical, and technological innovation.
