Mission Statement

Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, Inc., (MI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, qualified 501(c)(3) organization—a think tank—that specializes in U.S. domestic public policy issues. MI's mission is to develop and disseminate new ideas that foster greater economic choice and individual responsibility.

About This Cause

For more than 40 years since its founding in 1977, Manhattan Institute has been one of America's leading public policy think tanks, providing new ideas about how a society based on freedom and individual responsibility can flourish. Among many other projects, the Institute publishes City Journal, a print and online magazine of urban affairs, and is the home of the Adam Smith Society, a chapter-based network of MBA students and alums of the top-ranked U.S. business schools with members across America and the globe. MI is based in midtown Manhattan and maintains a small satellite office in Washington, D.C.
