Mission Statement
OrigamiUSA's mission is to share the joy of paperfolding, preserve its history, nurture its growth, bring people together and encourage community among paperfolders.
About This Cause
We are the American national society devoted to origami, the art of paperfolding. We are a membership organization with over 1,700 members world-wide. We have 3 publications which include a print magazine, The Paper, an online magazine, The Fold, and an Annual diagram book called the Annual Collection. We hold a Convention annually in New York City and every other year, a Convention in the western part of the USA. We have classes in person held at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City, where our offices are located at the generosity of the Museum Trustees. We have an online classes program called Origami Connect. We hold a competition called Origami By Children which allows children under 18 to send in origami models to be chosen for a traveling exhibit. We also decorate a 14-foot Holiday Tree at the AMNH.
