Mission Statement
The American Friends of the National Gallery, London, Inc. was established in 1985 to support the National Gallery, London, in its efforts to care for, enhance and study its collection of great European paintings, and to encourage access to the collection for the education and enjoyment of the widest possible public now and in the future.
About This Cause
Since its inception, American Friends of the National Gallery, London, has provided support to the National Gallery. Grants from AFNGL to the National Gallery have totaled more than $129 million and have supported the acquisition of such masterpieces as Bernardo Daddi's The Coronation of the Virgin, Raphael's Madonna of the Pinks, and Titian's Diana and Actaeon. In addition, AFNGL has supported such projects as the National Gallery's building redesign and reconstruction, scholarly publications and website development.
