The Greenwich Village Orchestra, a volunteer symphony orchestra based in lower Manhattan, aims to enrich the community with exhilarating, educational and affordable symphonic performances.
About This Cause
The Greenwich Village Orchestra is a volunteer symphony orchestra founded in 1986 and consists of players from the New York metropolitan area. We are accountants, artists, attorneys, carpenters, editors, physicians, professors, programmers, psychologists, retirees, scientists, secretaries, teachers, writers..., and dedicated musicians. The Greenwich Village Orchestra has a single purpose: to bring the best possible performances of great music to our audiences while keeping our ticket prices inexpensive. We are a group of musicians who are committed to maintaining high artistic standards and who also believe that our orchestra has an obligation to play a vital role in our community. The orchestra performs a wide range of repertoire that spans the classical music spectrum. Joining the orchestra are world-class soloists, who give fresh insights to us all. We play a vital role in our community by bringing together people from all walks of life and ages through the beauty of music.
