enCourage Kids Foundation helps humanize healthcare for children and their families by resourcing impact-driven pediatric programs and supporting the Child Life Community.
About This Cause
Three million children are hospitalized every year in the United States, and enCourage Kids Foundation is on a mission to help every single one. Due to hospitals’ limited budgets, our programs fill a crucial role in improving the emotional well-being of pediatric patients, leading to faster recovery and shorter hospital stays. These programs include visits from entertainers who lift the spirits of patients who are anxious or lonely being away from home, Teddy Bears which act as cuddly companions and invaluable tools for medical play, and creative therapy programs that allow sick kids to express their emotions through music and art. Additionally, enCourage Kids provides vital funding to the pediatric facilities we partner with, enabling their Child Life Specialists to implement crucial programs that serve the unique needs of their patients. Listening closely to their needs, enCourage Kids Foundation has built strong, trusted relationships with pediatric hospital programs and Child Life over the past three decades. We have learned what hospitals need in order to provide the best care for their young patients. Through our programs and support of 285 pediatric facilities across the country, children and families can have a brighter, more positive hospital experience. Outside of the hospital, enCourage Kids Foundation provides stress-free family outings throughout the year to give sick kids, their siblings, and parents a much needed break from the daily stress of coping with a serious or chronic illness. Outings such as a night at the ballpark, a day at an amusement park, or a weekend at camp, help to connect families with other families – and kids to other kids – so they feel less isolated in their medical journeys. Serving more than one million children annually, enCourage Kids is focused on making hospitals a better place to get better. Our programs offer relief from the constant burden of treatment, hospital stays, and doctor appointments. We envision a world where every child—regardless of the difficulty of his or her medical journey—experiences joy, hope, resilience, and healing.
