Mission Statement

The Asian American Arts Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring greater representation, equity, and opportunities for Asian American artists and cultural organizations through resource sharing, promotion, and community building.

About This Cause

Since 1983, the Asian American Arts Alliance (A4) has sought to unify, promote, and represent the artistic and cultural producers of one of New York City’s fastest-growing populations. We are a diverse alliance of artists, organizations, and arts supporters who believe that working together as a pan-ethnic, multidisciplinary community is essential to nurturing the development of artists and arts groups. A4 serves as a thoughtful convener of the Asian American cultural workforce around issues of race, identity, and artmaking and provides a critical voice for this community. A4 is the only service organization in the country dedicated to the professional development of Asian American artists working in all disciplines. Current programs include workshops, panels, networking events, career roundtable discussions, and fellowships that embed pathways for artists to access cultural gatekeepers, foreground role models for emerging artists, and provide tools to develop Asian American leaders in the community. A4’s programs reach an annual audience in excess of 20,000. A4 has garnered the support of major funders, including National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York Community Trust, CJ Huang Foundation, Ford Foundation, ConEdison, Rockefeller Brothers Foundation, Fila, Fiskars, Howard Gilman Foundation, and more.
