Mission Statement

Sakhi for South Asian Survivors exists to represent the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean diaspora in a survivor-led movement for gender justice and to honor the collective and inherent power of all survivors of violence.

About This Cause

Who We Are: Sakhi is a trailblazer – agile, and inclusive of all South Asians and Indo-Caribbeans regardless of identity. With the collective strength of survivor voices united for justice, we are shaping a world where gender-based violence has no place. What We Do: Sakhi is committed to serving survivors through a combination of efforts including—but not limited to—culturally competent direct services such as a helpline, counseling, advocacy, housing assistance, economic empowerment, food justice, elder abuse intervention, and youth programs that honor the collective and inherent power of all survivors of violence. Our Impact: Sakhi creates a system that operates at individual, cultural, and systemic levels to dismantle the root causes of violence. Sakhi provides sanctuary and facilitates the healing and liberation that are fundamental for survivors and their families.
