Mission Statement
The American Go Foundation is dedicated to promoting Go in the U.S. With our support, thousands of American children have learned Go in hundreds of schools, libraries and community centers across the country. We also provide scholarships and resources for youth who play Go, and we support Go in institutional settings such as prisons, and senior centers.
About This Cause
The American Go Foundation is a tax-deductible, charitable organization devoted to promoting and spreading Go in the United States. With our support, thousands of American children have learned Go in hundreds of schools, libraries and community centers across the country. We also provide scholarships and resources for youth who play Go, and we support Go in institutional settings such as prisons, and senior centers. How we help: • Send free Go equipment to youth Go programs • Provide scholarships for needy young Go enthusiasts to attend the AGA Summer Go Camps and the annual US Go Congress • Publish The Way to Go, the most widely read Go book in English (over 40,000 copies distributed) • Distribute free copies of Go As Communication, a book about teaching Go • Purchase specialized equipment for Go instructors • Subsidize additional playing equipment for expanding programs with matching grants • Accept and administer earmarked, tax deductible contributions to support local Go programs. Today the AGF relies completely on the generousity of donors for everything we do. Our hundreds of programs are developing a new generation of Go players, and more people are playing Go in America than at any time in history.
