Mission Statement
The Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation Inc. (BVMRF) enhances the quality of care and health of Veterans through research and education activities. We strive to serve our Veterans with the same loyalty, honesty, and integrity they displayed serving us.
About This Cause
The Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation, Inc. (BVMRF) is a private, non-profit entity 501(c)(3) incorporated in 1992 in the State of New York. BVMRF is a Multi-Medical Center Nonprofit Corporation serving veterans at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (JJPVAMC) and the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System (VAHVHCS). It is affiliated with, but legally distinct from the VA, JJPVAMC and VAHVHCS. The Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation (BVMRF) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation serving Veterans by supporting VA research and education to improve the quality of care that Veterans receive. Donations and grants provided to BVMRF allow the Foundation to provide additional resources to the VA that ultimately benefit Veterans’ medical care. Nurses and clinicians who participate in research projects also provide care for Veterans during the course of studies. BVMRF-administered research facilitates Veterans’ access to the latest drugs and state-of-the-art technology. By participating in the development of treatments, Veterans are offered new medications in a closely supervised setting. Veterans benefit from the improved treatments and the extra care received when they participate in VA-approved research. Medical equipment, computers, and copiers are among the many purchases made by BVMRF that also directly or indirectly enhance care for Veterans. In addition to research, the Foundation supports VA personnel training designed to improve the performance of current duties; assists employees in maintaining or gaining specialized proficiencies; and expands understanding of advances or changes in patient care, technology, and healthcare administration. Moreover, BVMRF supports medical education for Veteran patients and their families such as training in diabetes management.
