Mission Statement
We serve in coopeariton with NYC Parks & Recreation for the preservation, beautification and safety of the NYC public park known as Dag Hammarskjold Plaza and its Katharine Hepburn Garden. We also facilitate events that promote park usage and stewardship.
About This Cause
This ungated open space is the largest public park in east midtown Manhattan. The 1.5 acre property historically serves as gateway to the United Nations, preserving the right of public assembly and free speech and accomodating numerous protests, rallies and cultural celebrations (capacity 8000). Named after Nobel Peace Laureate Dag Hammarskjold who served as the second secretary general of the UN in its formative years, the 1.5 acre park is utilized by a diverse global and local population. For more than 20 years, our nonprofit has watched over this green space, the centerpiece of the Turtle Bay Neighborhood.
