Mission Statement
MISSION-established May 1996, our mission is to transform youth into stars and expose community audiences to a unique style of ballet that incorporates acrobatics and black dance movement thru live performance theatre.
About This Cause
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES-Located in E. Harlem offering professional dance training at affordable rates in the disciplines of Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, African, Flamenco, Acrobatics, and Hip Hop to a target population of primarily disadvantaged, minority children and young adults who reside in the Tri-state area. We offer the UDA Recital Studio where students may choose classes at a recreational level, and the Transformation Academy where students are hand selected to be trained year round by Robin Williams and her specialized team. Referred to as a modern day Katherine Dunham, Robin a Project Plie ABT certified teacher in levels 1-3 and an Acrobatics Arts Certified teacher in acrobatics is the 2009 winner of an Audelco award for innovation in choreography and black theatre. In 2011, UDA received $250,000 from artist Prince and Ballerina Misty Copeland. Robin has designed a system to train students simultaneously in multiple dance forms to become adaptive to any professional dance program or professional job.
