Mission Statement
Franciscan Bread For The Poor has been serving the homeless and hungry of New York City for over 86 years. Our daily breadline, the St. Francis Breadline, continues to serve hot coffee and sandwiches to over 400 people each morning at 7 AM on 31st Street since 1930. Our pantry also delivers groceries to our elderly and disabled neighbors on fixed incomes. Whether they come to us every morning or if we need to bring the breadline to them, our team always provides the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.
About This Cause
Franciscan Bread for the Poor, Inc. is a non-for-profit entity organized under the laws of the State of New York. We are a social outreach ministry of the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province, committed to serving those less fortunate. We serve the homeless and hungry on our daily breadline and also provide and deliver groceries to our elderly and disabled neighbors on fixed incomes. Whether they come to us every morning or if we need to bring the breadline to them, our team always provides the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. We strive to enhance our community by a generous and joyful Franciscan presence to all in need, regardless of their religious affiliation and personal values. We are a collaborative team working with other community agencies in order to share our resources and ideas.
