Mission Statement
Is to preserve the Palisades Interstate Park's rich history and biodiversity, and protect America's first bi-state park system. We are committed to supporting parks where all visitors can play, connect, and immerse themselves in nature and culture.
About This Cause
The Palisades Parks Conservancy was founded in 2001 as the non-profit partner of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Since our founding, we have worked closely with the Palisades Interstate Park system to raise funds in support of infrastructure improvements, educational programming, scientific research and conservation of natural resources, historic preservation, advocacy, and outreach. Since 2012, the Conservancy has raised more than $6 million in support of the Palisades' 29 parks and historic sites, making up more than 120,000 acres in New York and New Jersey. The Conservancy's fundraising priorities include: - Public access and recreation - expanding and maintaining trails, ensuring that all, regardless of income or physical ability have access to outdoor recreation. - Education and engagement - we provide support of history education, american revolution re-enactments, arts and environment education, camps, and other cultural, environmental, nature and conservation education. Our goal is to provide a life-changing experience that creates the stewards of tomorrow. - Historic preservation - The Palisades hosts 8 American Revolution sites, plus much more historic landmarks. We partner with the Commission to ensure these important sites are here for generations to enjoy and which to learn through hands-on experiences. - Conservation Science and research - Supporting restoration and preservation of native species our work has included habitat restoration and native species research, such as the Golden-winged Warbler. Additionally, we support the Trailside Zoo, a nature center hosting native animals, raptors and reptiles that unable to be re-released due to injury. - Advocacy - protecting these beautiful places from climate impacts, density and usage, we protect these special sites so they are here for generations to come. The Conservancy relies on the support of individuals, organizations, companies, and governments to make your parks better. And we make every dollar count, partnering directly with the parks and other nonprofits to deliver long-term solutions and programs.
