Mission Statement
House of Possibilities (HOPe) operates out of an 11,000 sq. ft. home-like facility located on the campus of Stonehill College in Easton, MA, where it runs a variety of programs for children and adults with disabilities including Community-Based Day Support, Day Habilitation, social and recreational programs, and overnight respite. We currently serve members and their families from 54 communities across Massachusetts and over the span of 10 years, have served members in 85 cities and towns from the Boston Metro, Northeast, Southeast, and Central regions. HOPe’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of children, adults, and families living with developmental challenges by providing high quality programs and much needed relief and hope. Our members are extremely diverse in their needs -- physically, cognitively, and emotionally. To meet their needs, we provide programs and services that engage them within the greater community, build life skills, and develop friendships, all while providing their caretakers opportunities to tend to their health and the well-being of the entire family. Our programs successfully unveil barriers, allowing members to experience opportunities that help them reach their full potential. We are driven by a core belief that a nurturing environment, paired with skilled and dedicated staff, can inspire in children and adults an appreciation of their abilities and a determination to exceed the expectations of their disabilities, backed by the parents and guardians who are the warriors by their sides.
About This Cause
Programs For Children & Teens OVERNIGHT RESPITE (ONR) Overnight Respite (ONR) allows children to experience a sleepover with peers, while providing them with opportunities to engage in activities that reduce stress and promote social engagement. ONR runs every weekend, alternating between boys and girls ages 8-21, from Friday 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. A 2-night stay includes helping to prepare meals, playing games, and engaging in community outings. For caregivers, ONR provides time to recharge and refuel and spend quality time with their other children. SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN Adventure Club (AC) is our largest program and is offered to children ages 8-21. It runs on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. AC fosters children’s social growth and independence, as well as a sense of belonging and inclusion in the world around them as they participate in activities within the broader community. Activities include apple picking, laser quest, trampoline parks, mini-golf, bowling, holiday events, theater, and sporting events. Brunch Bunch is offered two Sundays per month, providing children ages 12-21 with an opportunity to socialize with their peers while preparing a meal or snack. HOPeMakers runs on Sunday afternoons, where small groups of participants, staff, and volunteers collaborate on a variety of projects and activities in our makerspace. Makerspace is a prepared environment that is designed to foster creativity, innovation, problem-solving, experimentation, and more. It contains a variety of building materials and tools, ranging from pieces of cardboard and glue to a 3D printer. It is a place to imagine "what if?" and use the resources around to build and create while fostering self-expression, growth, and confidence. Snack & Chat provides our members opportunities to practice socialization while further developing the important life-skills of food preparation. It runs on Saturdays 12:00 - 2:30 p.m. Participants select a menu and discuss nutrition and budgeting prior to preparing and enjoying a meal. Friend Zone engages our members in typical teen activities such as “hanging out” with friends for an afternoon and going out to dinner or a movie. This program runs on Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Programs for Adults DAY PROGRAMS Our Day Programs are available for individuals 18 years+ Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Day Habilitation is a community-based program designed to help people with developmental disabilities lead more independent and productive lives. Our DayHab leads the industry in access to the community, with members getting out into the community every day. The program primarily focuses on goals related to developing independent living skills, social competence, and healthy living. Community Based Day & Employment Support provides meaningful and enriching activities in the community that build the skills to lead healthy, independent and fulfilling lives. To support those seeking a pathway to employment, HOPe became a qualified provider of Employment Supports in 2019 and began providing services for both individual and group supported employment in February 2020. SOCIAL & RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS HOPe Club offers the opportunity for adults to enjoy socializing with peers while they participate in recreational activities in the community, such as laser tag, sporting events, theater and dinner & a movie. HOPe Club is offered on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month, 5:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. Friday Night Lights is a chance for our adults to just hang out at their "HOPe home" with friends while participating in a variety of activities, such as karaoke, preparing a meal, holiday games and more. Friday Night Lights is offered on the 4th Friday each month, 6:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m. Cheerleading Club at Stonehill College is one of several collaborations we enjoy with Stonehill College, where 8-10 members join their Cheerleading Squad in the fall/winter seasons for practice and cheering at home sporting events.
