United Spinal Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all people living with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), including veterans and providing support and information to loved ones, care providers and professionals.
About This Cause
As a trusted provider in the disability community and with close to 75 years of expertise, United Spinal is uniquely positioned to directly serve a large patient and consumer group of people with mobility disabilities given our 55K+ membership base and extensive chapter network across the country. Founded in New York City in 1946 by paralyzed WWII veterans responding to the inferior treatment they received at their local VA hospital, United Spinal remains true to its mission to enhance the quality of life of all people, including veterans, living with spinal cord injuries or disorders (SCI/D) such as Muscular Sclerosis (MS), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Spina Bifida (SB), Muscular Dystrophy (MD), stroke and many other disorders and diseases impacting the spine. United Spinal Association also provides curated support, targeted guidance and information to loved ones, care providers and professionals. Since its humble inception, United Spinal Association has grown into the largest and most prolific membership and advocacy organization serving the spinal cord injury/disorder community with an actively growing membership of over 55,000 members, 54 chapters, 192 support groups, and over 105 rehabilitation hospital partners nationwide.
