Mission Statement
Hashomer Hatzair is a progressive Zionist youth movement that was established 100 years ago and specializes in youth-led experiential Jewish education. Based on the values of equity, community, and social responsibility, our camps and year-round activities encourage youth to shape their communities and find personal relevance in Judaism, Jewish peoplehood, and Israel.
About This Cause
Hashomer Hatzair USA encourages youth to build progressive Jewish values, explore connections to Israel and the Jewish community, and develop a commitment to social, environmental and economic justice in a setting characterized by youth leadership and collective responsibility. Since 1923, Hashomer Hatzair has been providing quality, youth-led alternative education, enabling its youth to take full responsibility over their education and culture while continuing to build life-long friendships. Through year-round programming and summer activities at Camp Shomria, each age group, led by young guides, learns and grows together in an environment that promotes and models youth leadership, personal maturation, cooperation, and a passion for social justice.
