INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF RURAL RECONSTRUCTION

NEW YORK, New York, 10019 United States

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower rural people to build resilient communities and attain socioeconomic equity through creative and community-led action.

About This Cause

We enable communities to develop innovative yet practical solutions to poverty through a community-led development approach. We widely share these lessons through publications, videos and conferences to encourage replication and scaling up. Our programs focus on 5 key themes: Food Systems, Economic Empowerment, Education, Environment, and Health. Underpinning all of our work is our commitment to equality and diversity with a particular emphasis on the role of women and girls. We have implemented people-centered, sustainable development programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, presently maintaining a strong presence in East Africa and Southeast Asia. While IIRR is registered as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in the U.S. and has its headquarters in the Philippines, many senior decision-makers are located in the field. It is important to us that staff are based in the region where they work. This allows our programs to be locally-relevant, tailored, and community-driven and keeps our overhead low.
