Our mission is to strengthen the capacity of United Ways to be leaders in achieving results that improve the lives of all New Yorkers.
About This Cause
United Way of New York State is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports the work of the 40 local United Ways in NYS, through policy development, training, advocacy and convening. Our public policy work focuses on Working Family Tax Credit expansion, financial stability and early childhood efforts. We oversee the statewide information and referral source 2-1-1 New York, which has a network of providers ensuring every New Yorker can access help when they need it. ALICE NY is the Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed- a data project that quantifies and shines a light on the 45% of New Yorkers who struggle to make ends meet. Together, we make life better for the hard working people.
