Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide food, clothing and promoting self-sufficiency for people in need. We provide a week's supply of groceries, along with hygiene products, clothing items, and household goods to the working poor. In addition, we assist clients by providing eligibility screenings, referrals and SNAP (food stamp) application assistance.

About This Cause

Heartland Hope Mission’s primary program is the Homelessness and Hunger Prevention Program which is designed to help the working poor. The Homelessness and Hunger Prevention Program provides food, clothing, hygiene products, and household items to individuals who do not have the financial means or social supportive services to otherwise acquire these items. Heartland Hope Mission’s Homelessness and Hunger Prevention Program provides a week’s supply of food for each person registered in the household. The pantry supplied to each person or household contains food items from all essential food groups and food appropriate for preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, 2-6 personal care items such as: soap, shampoo, toilet paper and toothpaste are provided. Clients are provided with the opportunity to choose one sack of clothing items per person in their household. Household items and furniture are distributed as needed and available. Heartland Hope Mission also focuses on assisting clients with becoming self-sufficient. As part of this effort, screening for SNAP (food stamp assistance) and other assistance programs along with referrals are provided. Recently those efforts were expanded to include application assistance. Currently, the referral process is being expanded through staff and volunteer client service specialist. As part of this process, an Advisory Committee composed of professionals in the Social Work and Counseling fields was implemented. The pantry is open one evening, one weekday afternoon and on Saturday each week in order to meet the needs of the maximum number of people and keep costs low. We also provide Thanksgiving food boxes in November that contain a turkey or a ham along with sides a family can prepare for their holiday meal. At Christmas we distribute toys to around 1,000 children.
