Mission Statement

The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) is a human relations organization that promotes inclusion and acceptance by providing education and advocacy while building communities that are respectful and just for all. Celebrating the diversity of races, religions, cultures, genders, abilities & sexual orientations.

About This Cause

NCCJ programming and advocacy efforts are directed at transforming communities to make them more inclusive and just for all people. The major programs provided by NCCJ are: NCCJ ANYTOWN: A premier year-long program that begins with a weeklong residential experience. ANYTOWN brings together a diverse group of high school youth to learn areas of social justice (e.g., racism, sexism, anti-religiousism, heterosexism, classism, genderism, ageism, ableism, and privilege) and give students the skills to work to eliminate all forms of discrimination and become effective leaders in our global society. NCCJ Bridges: A two-day anti-bullying, prejudice reduction program for middle and high school students. Through a series of activities, students develop critical thinking skills with a greater insight and view of themselves, an understanding of prejudices, a deeper respect for other cultures, and an understanding of the social injustices that confront our society. Youth Action Coalition (YAC): A continuation of NCCJ ANYTOWN and NCCJ Bridges, YAC takes a youth centered approach to social justice. YAC offers continual support to students in making change in their communities through youth leadership trainings, mentoring, assistance in developing youth advocacy skills, and implementation of community action plans. Inter-religious Dialogue: Promoting understanding and respect among all religions and philosophical beliefs, NCCJ strives to improve interfaith dialogue by sponsoring programs, conferences and discussions throughout the community. Workplace Diversity: Training programs providing participants with the awareness, knowledge and competencies necessary in today’s multicultural world. Businesses learn how to create an inclusive environment within their organizations and for their diverse customer base. NCCJ has been part of the Connecticut community for more than 90 years and is a recognized expert in addressing all issues of inequity.
