Mission Statement
The PTA of PS 84 is an organization of families and teachers dedicated to providing an engaging, STEAM-driven curriculum to the 830+ students at our diverse, Title 1 school located in Brooklyn, NY.
About This Cause
The PTA of PS 84 consists of dedicated volunteers committed to the dual purposes of fundraising to provide top-notch educational enrichments to the 830+ students at our Title 1 school, and building a nurturing community among our diverse families through events, parenting workshops, and local advocacy work. Our school serves students in pre-k through 8th grade, offering both a rigorous Spanish-English dual language program and a unique ASD Nest program which strives to integrate students on the autism spectrum with neurotypical peers in a small classroom environment. PS 84 is home to Brooklyn's only rooftop hydroponic, aquaponic greenhouse classroom - a project borne from the ideas of parents, enormous support from local officials, and incredibly rigorous fundraising efforts led by parents. Beyond being the not-so-little school that could, there are many things that make PS 84 a worthwhile cause to support: * PS 84 is a truly diverse school with a social-emotional element to the curriculum that fosters appreciation of our diversity as an asset. * All students learn to code starting in kindergarten. * PS 84's staff partners with our local Apple store, receiving professional development regularly to implement with Apple products in the classroom. * PS 84 collaborates with our local Apple store, bringing groups of students over for mini-lessons in coding and educational apps. * dynamic 3D printing program we'd like to expand. * both lego robotics and interactive robotics programs. * digital photography program * concert band, orchestra, chorus, glee club, pop band programs * and so much more!
