Mission Statement

The mission of the United Way of Broome County is to drive change that will have positive impact on the critical needs of our community by strategically leveraging the collective resources of community partners.

About This Cause

United Way is focused on creating large-scale, systems-level social change in our community. Breaking cycles and improving the quality of life for those in Broome County depends on engaging the entire community and on doing things differently. United Way provides funding to programs that help people overcome life's challenges and meet their basic needs so they are prepared to take advantage of all the resources that allow them to build a better life. Through the relationships we build with you, we have the influence and connections to make sustainable change a reality. By collaborating with key stakeholders and community partners, United Way can address the basic needs of our most vulnerable populations while finding the solutions to our community's strategic priorities that address core issues in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. From our funders to our partners in business, government, non-profit, and--most importantly--our donors, we convene our stakeholders to craft solutions to our most pressing community challenges. At the heart of United Way of Broome County's vision is a community of interconnected individuals, groups and institutions working together for the benefit of all. 100% of every donation we receive is invested in community-based projects and programming.
