The Center has a centrally located office and training facility at 201 Bleecker Street, Utica, including classrooms for an on-site adult ESOL program that is run by Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC). The Center is a distinctive resettlement agency that not only provides comprehensive refugee resettlement services, but also has a wide range of programs and services that further support integration for both refugees, immigrants, and newcomers into the community. The Center has worked extensively with populations whose primary language is not English and strives to maintain a diverse and professional staff to effectively deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services. These individuals each are assigned specific responsibilities and functions in providing a full spectrum of services to our refugee and immigrant clients. On-site support services that enhance the attainment of self-sufficiency include transportation training, classroom instruction in English and/or literacy, interpretation and translation services, immigration and citizenship services, traffic safety education, child passenger safety seat education and distribution, health promotion/education, enhanced case management and housing services. The agency also operates Compass, a professional interpretation provider, and Tone, a professional translation service that provides language services 24/7 supporting 42 languages, via in-person, telephone, and video services. The Center also provides professional cultural competency training and consulting. In addition, The Center has administered an ONA Opportunity Center since 2012, which provides citizenship services and citizenship preparation classes, employment assistance for immigrants who arrive with college degrees, and access to pro-bono legal services provided by immigration attorneys. The Center’s Immigration & Citizenship Services Department provides advocacy, counseling, information, as well as completing immigration forms and facilitating referrals regarding citizenship and immigration issues.
