Binghamton University is a premier public university dedicated to enriching the lives of people in the region, state, nation and world through discovery and education and to being enriched by partnerships with those communities.
About This Cause
The Binghamton University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds that further the purpose and mission of Binghamton University. Staff members and volunteers working on behalf of the Foundation foster and maintain partnerships with alumni, parents, friends and members of the University community. The Foundation also educates others about charitable giving, matches institutional fund-raising priorities with donors’ charitable intentions and provides stewardship of all assets held in trust for the benefit of Binghamton University. About 80 percent of Binghamton’s student population qualifies for need-based financial aid. Our incoming freshmen boast the highest average SAT scores of any SUNY university center, making merit-based scholarships another priority. To assist with these needs, the Foundation administers 218 named scholarships, 123 named awards and 19 fellowships. Combined with internships, graduate-travel support and emergency loans, the Foundation provides nearly $2.5 million in aid each year to deserving Binghamton students. The Foundation also contributes funding for faculty hiring and retention, research support, academic programs, awards and grants, career networking and job placement assistance, admissions and alumni programs, general support, and the flexibility for Binghamton University to meet a variety of ongoing and critical needs. Thanks to our donors. Binghamton University receives almost $10 million in support annually from the Foundation.
