About This Cause
In 2002, the Lincoln community, a 1.5-mile area just minutes from downtown Huntsville, AL, was riddled with crime and poverty. Parents were frustrated and exhausted from living in unsafe conditions and facing overwhelming obstacles as they tried to provide for their families. Despair and hopelessness had set in. One man felt compelled to enter the darkness and bring the light of Christ. Thousands of others followed, and Lincoln Village Ministry (LVM) began. LVM's mission is to help people experience restoration and redemption through a transforming relationship with Christ. With support from preschool to high school, children grow in a healthy environment. Private Christian schools are centrally located within the Lincoln neighborhood, providing a supportive learning environment. Students learn in small classrooms that provide individual support. LVM offers safe and affordable childcare through our after-school and summer programs. The Lincoln experience is more than just an education; children are nourished, encouraged, and valued for who they are in Christ. Two neighborhoods have been restored through the acquisition and renovation of homes, providing safe and affordable housing for families. The exterior of the historic mill houses still looks the same, but the interior is rebuilt from the ground up. Neighbors living in these homes participate in a four-year program where they can sprout, bloom, and flourish. Support in every aspect of life has helped move families from surviving to thriving. LVM is a proven model for holistic transformation in a community. The vision is to replicate this model in other parts of the city and beyond. LVM desires to see all families and communities redeemed and transformed by the power of Christ.
