Mission Statement

The Chicago Dragons are a Division IV member of the USA Rugby organization, the Midwest Rugby Union, and the Chicago Area Rugby Football Union (CARFU). We are dedicated to competitive play within our division. The Chicago Dragons are also the first team to accept openly gay men in the Midwest, the first team in the Midwest to formally join International Gay Rugby (IGR), and have been a guiding force in our local union and other unions throughout the Midwest to increase awareness and diversity in the sport of rugby. Since 2003, the Chicago Dragons’ mission has been to play the sport of rugby, increase the diversity of the sport, thereby creating a welcoming and encouraging learning environment for new players regardless of background. We also strive to create a competitive team on local, national, and international levels.
