About This Cause
The ECU Health Foundation, formerly University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina Foundation, was established in 2004 to garner philanthropic support for the eight hospitals that make up the ECU Health system and the communities they serve. The Foundation strives to develop relationships and financial resources to support the health system’s mission and to encourage health-focused initiatives in the community. The Foundation is the fiduciary agent for ECU Health Medical Center, and it is designated as a 501c3 charity by the IRS. ECU Health Medical Center, a 909-bed Academic Medical Center and Level 1 Trauma Center located in Greenville, NC, serves Pitt County and its surrounding communities. It is the flagship hospital for ECU Health, which includes the medical center and eight community hospitals. ECU Health Medical Center provides comprehensive acute, intermediate, rehabilitation, and outpatient health services to 1.4 million people residing in their 29-county catchment area. Many of the programs sponsored by the Foundation are committed to improving access to healthcare services, which is congruent with our mission—“to improve the health and well-being of eastern North Carolina.”
