Mission Statement
Hartford City Mission (HCM) is to reflect God's love to unlock the potential of Hartford's youth, families and neighborhoods. The goal is to develop Next gen leaders who will advocate for peace, justice and goodness in their community.
About This Cause
We seek to empower the next generation of transformational leaders in our community who will be able to help accomplish HCM's mission to help bring about the spiritual transformation of our community. In order to do this we run the following programming: Noah After-School (Grades 1-5) is a free after-school program emphasizing homework help, character development, and social-emotional support for children. Each student is paired with consistent volunteer mentors/tutors. Healthy snacks are provided each day. Nehemiah After-School (Grades 6-8) is a free after-school program that consists of homework help, character development, and social-emotional support for youth. Each student is paired with consistent volunteer mentors/tutors. Healthy snacks are provided each day. Camp Noah (Summer Students who have completed Grades 1-7) is a summer camp program that consists of character development in a safe and fun family atmosphere. Year Round HCM staff, local teens, and college students run the Camp. Daily activities include friendly competitions, crafts, character development lessons, and healthy snacks. Young Life (Grades 9-12) is a friendly Christian youth group targeting High School students. It meets every Tuesday night at the Salvation Army on Nelson Street. Activities, games, and dinner are concluded with a simple message about God's love for all people. Each volunteer seeks to fulfill the Young Life goal of building positive mentoring relationships and frequent personal connection with students during the week and into life. Parent Empowerment Group (For all parents of HCM youth) is a monthly session with parents where we seek to share information on parent rights within the school system, special education policies and laws, and parenting tips on enhancing the character development lessons taught during student programs.
