CHILDRENS ADVOCACY CENTER OF COMAL COUNTY

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas, 78131-2200 United States

Mission Statement

The mission of the CACCC is to provide a neutral, child-friendly agency to the community that facilitates a multidisciplinary approach in the prevention, detection, investigation and treatment of child abuse.

About This Cause

The CACCC helps abused children feel less scared, less intimidated and less confused by the system that is meant to protect them. The CACCC exists to aid in the prevention, detection, investigation and treatment of child abuse. Our interagency partners through expert team members make it possible for us to help Comal County children every day. Law enforcement officers and child protective service investigators refer cases to the center as soon as they believe that abuse might have occurred. During a forensic interview, they observe. After the interview, they take a copy of the recorded interview into evidence for later use. Assistant district attorneys observe the interviews as well to determine if sufficient evidence exists to go forward in a case. Crisis advocates and CAC Staff and volunteers work to keep the children and families who come to the center comfortable and follow up with families after they leave the center to provide ongoing support and referrals as needed.
