Wildflower helps children who have lost a parent with the gift of camp, enrichment opportunities and ongoing support. We are committed to renewing the promise of summer, offering a restorative experience for both the children and surviving spouse as they recover from their loss.
About This Cause
Wildflower helps children who have lost a parent with the gift of camp, enrichment opportunities and ongoing support. The keystone of our mission is our long-term commitment to those we serve. Once a child becomes a Wildflower camper, we support the camper and their family for as long as the child needs our assistance. Many of our campers may be part of the Wildflower family for more than a decade. We provide sustained, long-term support to children when they need it most. With our help, our campers have a better chance of working through the trauma of losing a parent. We’re part of the process that helps them transition from being at-risk kids to kids who are thriving with renewed spirit, creativity and talents. The camp experience of carefree summer days, the comfort of friends and mentors and a break from a life in turmoil is an invaluable and transformative experience. Returning to the same camp each summer provides a sense of stability to the children, while allowing the surviving parent an opportunity to restore themselves emotionally and provide a more stable environment when their children return home.
