About This Cause
Sleepy Hollow Parents' Club, Inc. (SHPCI) was created to promote the welfare of students and bring about an integrated, focused partnership between OUSD administrators, teachers and parents. All of our efforts support our three main function: Fundraising, Communications, and Educational Enrichment. Fundraising Through the Sleepy Hollow Annual Fund we raise money to support people, programs and projects that otherwise would not be possible.This year SHPCI will spend $1000 per student to provide: · K-3, class size preservation (20 students or fewer), funded in partnership with the Educational Foundation of Orinda (EFO) · All Classroom Instructional Assistants (Teacher Aides), a Psychologist and a PE Teacher · Library Services, Instructional Materials, and Technology Upgrades · Teacher and Staff Support, including continued education for teachers, copiers, and front office staff support · The 4th and 5th Grade Science Program Communications The Hollow Log, which comes out each Friday during the school year is run by SHPCI. Members of the SHPCI Executive Board meet with the OUSD Superintendant and School Board members on a monthly basis. Additionally, members of the SHPCI board meet with their counterparts at the other elementary schools to share knowledge and discuss best practices. SHPCI General meetings are held several times each school year to communicate information to parents. Educational Enrichment The Before and After School Club (B/ASC) provides quality, adult supervised student activities on a parent-pay basis for Sleepy Hollow Students.The activities vary and include sports, cooking, art, and science.SHPCI also organizes a variety of enrichment classes including Spanish, Chess, Dance, Choir, Art, Robotics, Science, Sports, and Instrumental Music.
