About This Cause

El Paso's Miracle League is a 501 ( 3) nonprofit organization established in 2005 providing recreational opportunities for children and individuals with disabilities. The organization obtains program participants through a partnership with special education departments of the school districts in the community and partners with like organizations within the County of El Paso. This is an all-volunteer organization where no one receives a salary. Our volunteer initiative engages people to invest in our goal of a healthier lifestyle through physical activity. Program participants can choose from fourteen recreational opportunities Each participant is paired with an able-bodied peer (termed an "Angel in the Outfield") who help shadow the player keeping them safe but also allowing them to participate in their own way. All programs are scheduled on a weekly basis in eight week sessions, year-round. Many of our programs, we rely on experts in those fields to formulate the curriculum and help deliver to the participants. The League relies on the generosity of the community by fundraising and seeking sponsors throughout the year.
