Friends of Lockwood is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of the students of Lockwood Avenue Elementary by organizing and producing fun and educational opportunities for the Lockwood students outside the classroom.
About This Cause
Friends of Lockwood (FOL) is a grass-roots organization dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of the students of Lockwood Avenue Elementary, a school located in a low income area of Hollywood which receives limited funding for extracurricular activities. The goal of the organization is to organize and produce fun educational opportunities for the Lockwood students outside the classroom. FOL was formed by a group of friends that personally sponsored a group of Lockwood students to visit Disneyland in December 2002. Due the overwhelming interest and support by the individuals involved in the Disneyland trip, the group began organizing and sponsoring other events and projects for Lockwood Elementary School. FOL filed and received its 501(c) (3) non-profit status in June 2005.
