Mission Statement
Three Strand Cord is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that creates self-sufficient communities in developing countries in a very proactive, collaborative and cooperative way. We facilitate the development of the systems, leadership and infrastructure needed for a community to be self-reliant. What makes us different is our commitment to partnership, partnership with the local organization and partnership with organizations already working with excellence in areas of need. Three Strand Cord equips these communities by setting into motion seven spokes of independence. Three Strand Cord also partners with growing ministries and short term missions teams who can benefit from the experience and resources available through 3SC.
About This Cause
Three Strand Cord is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that creates self-sufficient communities in developing countries in a very proactive, collaborative and cooperative way. We facilitate the development of the systems, leadership and infrastructure needed for a community to be self-reliant. What makes us different is our commitment to partnership, partnership with the local organization and partnership with organizations already working with excellence in areas of need. Three Strand Cord equips these communities by setting into motion seven spokes of independence. Three Strand Cord also partners with growing ministries and short term missions teams who can benefit from the experience and resources available through 3SC. Since 2010, the primary focus of Three Strand Cord (3SC) has been a project called the Oasis Project. The Oasis Project is designed to create independent communities by setting into motion the Wheel of Self-Sufficiency. This wheel has seven spokes: clean water, renewable food, appropriate education, a viable economy, available medical care, reliable power, and biblical discipleship. The key distinction of 3SC is our ability to utilize through partnership what has already been perfected in others, utilizing organizations already at work to accomplish our goals. Additionally, 3SC provides funding to complete these projects. The first step is to identify indigenous organizations in disadvantaged international locations which have proven faithfulness and a positive record of service. Once a community is identified, 3SC develops a partnership with community leadership and ascertain community needs. A community, for our purposes, is defined as a body of individuals operating in a similar geographic area. 3SC then serves in partnership with the identified community to find and recruit organizations and individuals who can help the community begin developing programs to address each spoke. Additionally, 3SC works with the community to develop needed leadership, infrastructure and systems.
