Mission Statement
The Youth Orchestras of Charlotte provide training for young musicians in a professional symphony atmosphere. There are over 180 musicians from more than 60 schools in the greater Charlotte area involved in the youth orchestras program.
About This Cause
The Youth Orchestras of Charlotte is a music education organization dedicated to nurturing the musical talents of youth in the greater Charlotte area. Currently, the YOC family is made up of four ensembles led by a team that includes musicians of the Charlotte Symphony and the area’s top music educators: ⠂The Youth Orchestra of Charlotte is a full symphony orchestra made up of high school age musicians, performing masterpieces from the orchestral repertoire in a professional symphony setting. ⠂The Preparatory Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra that performs both actual symphonic literature and arrangements of the repertoire geared to advanced younger players. It is a preparatory training orchestra for the YOC. ⠂Sinfonia Strings is a string orchestra that prepares young musicians in the art of orchestral performance. ⠂The Flute Choir is a flute ensemble that performs flute choir repertoire and explores a wide variety of musical genres.
