Mission Statement
The Wish Project’s mission is to help families in need establish long-term residency by providing furniture, household goods, clothing, and shoes; to provide critical immediate assistance to homeless families and victims of fire or disaster, and to support the community. We serve with a passionate team of board members, volunteers, community partners, and staff.
About This Cause
We meet our mission in three distinct ways: 1. Through our WISHES program, we provide gently used furniture, household goods and baby gear and clothing to needy clients. Caseworkers place wishes for their clients on line and receive approvals via email. Caseworkers and/or the clients bring the WISH Approval to our 13,000 square foot warehouse to pick up their items. 2. Through our SPECIAL PROJECTS program, we provide new goods like backpacks, Christmas gifts, Mother’s Day Gift bags to our partner agencies to distribute to their clients in need. These items are not ordered for individual clients as part of wishes. Agencies/programs are invited to participate in special projects based on their mission and target population. Since the items are new, there are limits on the amount available. The WISH Primary Contact person from each agency is responsible for registering, picking up the projects, and dispersing them to other caseworkers. 3. Through our EMERGENCY SUPPORT program, we provide immediate goods to fire victims, and other disaster victims. Emergency toiletries, clothing, baby diapers, baby gear, coats, shoes, backpacks are provided as quickly as possible to those in emergency need. Fire victims with Fire Department papers can also received furniture and household goods when resettling in a new household within three months of the fire date.
