Mission Statement

The mission of Frazier Revitalization is to be the catalyst for the revitalization and transformation of the Frazier neighborhood by coordinating and facilitating collaborative service delivery efforts that improve the overall quality of life for residents.

About This Cause

In 2003, the Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) leveraged a $20 million HOPE VI grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development into nearly $60 million including tax credit financing to replace Frazier Courts, a 50-acre concentration of public housing originally built in the early 1940s. In its place, DHA built 300 new townhome-style multi-family units, 40 single family homes and a new Head Start preschool facility. In 2005, Frazier Revitalization was formed as an outgrowth of DHA's efforts with a purpose of providing long-term leadership and strategic support for the implementation of the Frazier redevelopment vision. Since inception, Frazier Revitalization has served as the community quarterback in bringing together partners and facilitating development through resident-driven plans in the Frazier neighborhood. Examples of Frazier Revitalizations development activities: • A transit-oriented development on the DART Green Line was spearheaded by Frazier Revitalization and made possible by the New Markets Tax Credit Program. The Parkland Hatcher Station Health Center opened in 2015, bringing affordable care to the community. - An addition to the transit-oriented development is the Dr. M.C. Cooper Dental clinic that was developed by Frazier Revitalization for Texas A&M College of Dentistry. The eight chair state of the art clinic opened in April 2021. • Frazier Revitalization houses a location of The UNT Dallas College of Law Community Lawyering Center. The Center offers legal expertise and services to help residents gain steady income and overcome barriers to education and employment. For the last 10 years, Frazier Kids has provided year-round support to holistically address the needs of at-risk, school-aged children in Frazier to decrease disciplinary issues and to improve academic performance of struggling students. We see our early students now finishing high school and going on to college, we know there are great things in their future.
