A Catholic, coeducational, college and career preparatory secondary school, Providence Cristo Rey High School offers a transformational education experience to students with economic need.
About This Cause
Providence Cristo Rey High School is part of the national Cristo Rey Network®, comprising 40 schools dedicated to transforming urban America through quality secondary education. At the core of our unique model is the innovative Corporate Work Study Program, where students gain over 1000 hours of job experience and essential soft skills by working one day a week with partner businesses or non-profits. These skills, both technical and soft, are invaluable for any career path our students choose. Partner businesses contribute to student tuition, with students earning about 35% of their tuition through this program. Despite financial challenges, including a high percentage of students qualifying for Federal Free/Reduced lunch and limited family contributions, we bridge the gap through support from corporate partners, individuals, corporations, and grant makers. Our commitment extends beyond financial support. Providence Cristo Rey empowers students with the tools for success in high school, college, and beyond. Our dedicated staff identifies and addresses challenges, utilizing personalized learning tools, interventions, and small class sizes to ensure students meet or surpass grade-level benchmarks. Notably, 100% of seniors are accepted into college annually, with many graduating with college credits. Our Alumni Coordinator continues to support graduates through college and maintains Indiana State 21st Century Scholar status, covering tuition at state institutions. In 2022, we relocated to a new facility, doubling enrollment since 2010 and currently serving 204 students. Our partnerships with over 100 businesses, community organizations, and colleges underscore our commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty. With a strong Board of Directors and support from the Cristo Rey Network, we aim to increase college graduation rates and continue changing lives, one student at a time.
