Mission Statement

New York International Children’s Film Festival was founded in 1997 to promote the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative and intelligent cinematic works for ages 3-18. The Festival experience encourages the expansion of participants’ intellectual and imaginative lives; cultivates active, discerning viewing and stimulates lively discussion among peers, families and the film community. The festival is a not-for-profit organization.

About This Cause

New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) was founded in 1997 to promote the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative, and intelligent cinematic works for ages 3-18. The Festival is committed to increasing arts exposure for NYC youth, promoting cultural understanding and empathy, and expanding media literacy through engagement with the highest quality film programming that expands the limited scope of mainstream media by offering diversity traditional boundaries of in style, genre, and subject matter. NYICFF plays a crucial role in the cultural life of New York families, offering a rich and rewarding cultural arts education in settings that inspire enthusiasm and excitement. The annual four-week Ffestival,estival, held each year in February/March, serves an audience of 25,000 including families, filmmakers, and educators, andto premieres over 100 new films from around the world in theaters throughout New York City. Through year-round programming including one and two week satellite Festivals in partnering cities, a nationwide touring program, filmmaking camps, and special events, NYICFF reaches an additional 5,000 families on a year-round basis.
