About This Cause
After School Tutoring Program: For last two years In Las Vegas, Nevada, GCF has a successful tutoring program in collaboration with school in North Las Vegas, 100 Academy of Excellence, started and managed by 100 Black Men of Las Vegas. The goal is to increase the comprehension and the skills in Mathematics, Science, Reading, and Writing and preparing students for high school and put them on a path to succeed in high school and beyond. We doubled the enrollment in our tutoring program from 35 last year (2013-2014) to 71 students this school year (2014-2015). Each student is tutored for 4 hours a week from 3.30-5.30, in Math, Science and English- reading / writing at same school. The teacher student ratio is 1:6, there by each student gets individual attention. We have seen a continued improvement in the performance of these students not only in test scores but also in their confidence level and wanting to learn more. As we go from one school year to other, more and more students want to enroll in this program to improve their study skills and comprehension in these core subjects. Global charity foundation (GCF) has outlined the method of monitoring the program. Students are tested before the program and every 6 weeks thereafter through the length of the program. 100 Academy of Excellence reports the progress of students to GCF. We are committed to the continual growth of this successful program. We plan to expand this program and reach out to many more students in need. In addition, GCF recently collaborated with Southern Nevada Children first to help provide preventive and other healthcare to women and children residing in their shelters. Make sure these children receive the immunization in a timely manner to avoid the consequences of preventable infectious diseases. However, it doesn't end at the state line. GCF is committed to creating brighter futures abroad as well. We currently sponsor the education of indigent children in rural public schools in New Delhi, India. We have given educational assistance to over 250 students since 2010 focusing on 4th and 5th graders. In India, GCF’s health care program focuses on treatment of children with cancer to give them second chance at life. We provide cancer chemotherapy treatment for 4 different types of childhood cancers for indigent children residing in poor villages around New Delhi.
